The energy interacts with frequencies of matter in the universe which enables it to manifest change. So the more thought and feeling you put into your spell crafting, the more energy you are emitting over a longer time, and the more powerful your spell will be. All the time you spend planning your ritual and researching the relevant correspondences and items to use, you are adding energy to the quantum potential you have just created.

Once a quantum potential is created its energy will eventually drop if not maintained, but will never drop to zero as a battery does, it will always have a residual energy charge. The photograph act as the structural link, as would a piece of hair or fingernail.

There are so many variations on rituals, you really need to do your own searching for a ritual that suits you. The ritual you choose will need to be one you find comfortable doing and one you can remember without too much effort, so as to not distract from the actual spell.
